Cross Country Teams Finish in the Top-15 at ECAC/IC4A Championships

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Harvard cross country kicked off the weekend in the Empire State on a high note, as the Crimson placed in the top-15 in both the women's and men's races at the ECAC/IC4A Championships.

Highlighted by three top-10 performances, the men took second place at Van Cortlandt Park in the 8k race, the best finish at the ECAC/IC4A Championships since 2022. The women finished in 12th place at the ECAC/IC4A Championships in the 6k race.

HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The day began with the women's race, as senior Jordyn Duby and first-year Katelyn Matarese paced the Crimson. A native of San Diego, California, Duby was Harvard's top performer in the Big Apple, as she finished in 53rd place (22:22.2). A fellow Californian, Matarese followed right behind Duby, as she crossed the finish line in 54th place (22:25.6).
  • Junior Abby Weber tallied additional points for the Crimson, recording a 73rd place finish in the 6k race (22:39.8). Senior Katie Haag joined Weber in the top-100, as she posted a 84th place finish with a time of 22:54.5
  • Sophomore Kaiya Brooks (103rd/23:14.0), senior Cristina DeMeo (120th/23:27.6), and sophomore Samira Kennedy (197th/24:45.9) rounded out the scoring for the Crimson in the women's 6k race.
  • Four Crimson placed in the top-25 in the men's 8k race at the ECAC/IC4A Championships, propelling Harvard to a second place team finish.
  • First-Year William Brunner dazzled at Van Cortlandt Park, earning a spot on the podium with a third place finish (24:38.1). Senior Noah Ward joined Brunner in the top-five, posting a fourth place showing and a time of 24:39.8.
  • Sophomore Owen Bosley maintained the Crimson's momentum, as the Thiensville, Wisconsin native finished in 10th place (24:47.9). Fellow sophomore Ethan Aidam improved the Crimson's point tally, finishing in 25th 25:04.3.
  • A pair of top-75 finishes cemented the Crimson's second place team finish, as first-year Solomon Kwartowitz took 31st (25:14.1), while sophomore Jake Swanson finished in 75th (25:51.2).
UP NEXT:

The Crimson resume action for the regular season finale, as Harvard will compete at Pre-Nationals in Madison, Wisconsin, the site of the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championships. Racing begins at 11 a.m. eastern standard time as Harvard fans can watch the meet live on RunnerSpace.com.
