CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 8 Harvard men's tennis picked up their fourth win over a ranked of the season by downing No. 13 Duke, 4-3, to open weekend action.
How it Happened
The Crimson opened up action by capturing the doubles point in come from behind fashion. After dropping the No. 1 position match, the Crimson stormed from behind for wins at the next two spots. First,
David Lins and
Henry von der Schulenburg came from down 1-4 to defeat Faris Khan and Connor Krug (Duke) at the No. 3 spot, 6-4.
Ronan Jachuck and
Alan Yim then completed the upset victory over No. 21 Michael Heller and Andrew Zhang, 6-4, to put the Crimson up, 1-0.
Moving into singles, the Crimson quickly picked up two more wins to move up 3-0, courtesy of
Ronan Jachuck and
Daniel Milavsky. The pair both downed their opponents in straight sets while only dropping four and five games, respectively.
The Blue Devils pulled closer, stalling the Crimson chances of clinching with wins at the top two spots.
Melchior Delloye ultimately picked up the final win of the day with a three-set result at the No. 5 spot. The sophomore took the first set 6-3 before dropping the next one 1-6. Quickly shifting the momentum back in his favor, Delloye cruised to the victory by not dropping a single game in the final set.
Harvard Highlights
- While teaming up for the first time in 2023-24, Ronan Jachuck and Alan Yim picked up a crucial win in doubles while upsetting the No. 21 nationally ranked duo, 6-4.
- Daniel Milavsky continues to post strong performances in singles action to begin his junior campaign. Playing all his matches at the No. 3 spot, Milavsky has dropped just one contest this spring. Now with a record of 9-1, Milavsky recently entered the ITA Men's Division I Singles Top-125, checking in at No. 116.
- Ronan Jachuck looked strong in his match at the No. 4 position, downing Connor Krug (Duke) with identical 6-2 decisions. Now with a record of 7-3, Jachuck has the second most singles wins for the Crimson so far this spring.
- Melchior Delloye once again clinched the match for the Crimson by posting a dominant 6-0 final set at the No. 5 spot with the Blue Devils still hanging around.
- With the win, the Crimson pick up its second straight victory over the ACC foe and improve to 15-2 in the all-time series.
