CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University men's basketball first-year guard
Malik Mack has earned First Team NABC All-District 13 honors, the National Association of Basketball Coaches announced on Tuesday morning.
Mack – the 2023-24 Ivy League Rookie of the Year – established himself as one of the nation's top first-year student-athletes, ranking as the nation's third-leading scorer among first-years at 17.2 points per game. For the season, Mack averaged 17.2 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 34.1 percent from 3-point distance. An Honorable Mention All-Ivy selection, he ranked first in the Ivy League in assists per game, fourth in points per game, and third in free throws made (100). In Ivy only play, he led the conference with 5.1 assists per game. Mack scored in double figures in 21 of 24 games played and netted 20 or more points eight times. He dished out five or more assists in each of 14 games in 2023-24.
A candidate for the Lou Henson Award as the nation's top mid-major player, Mack won eight Ivy League Rookie of the Week awards, tying the conference record, while setting Harvard's first-year single-season points record (413). His 32-point effort at UMass (Nov. 17) stands in a tie for the sixth-highest scoring output from a first-year in a game against another Division I institution this season in the nation. Mack becomes the 10
th student-athlete in program history to win Ivy League Rookie of the Year and the first since Noah Kirkwood in 2018-19.
In 2023-24, the Crimson posted a record of .500 or better for the 14
th time in the last 15 competitive seasons.
The All-District honors are voted on by NABC member coaches across NCAA Division I.
