PRINCETON, N.J. – With just 11 days until the 2024 season begins, the Ivy League revealed its field hockey preseason poll, as Harvard field hockey slotted in first place with 124 points.
13 voters selected Harvard to finish in first place in the Ivy League during the 2024 season, compared to three first-place votes for second place Princeton. Penn and Cornell rounded out the top four of the Ivy League preseason poll.
During the 2023 campaign, Harvard finished the season with a 16-4 record, just one win away from matching the program's single season win record set in 2021. The Crimson posted a perfect 7-0 record in Ivy League play last season, winning the Ivy League regular season title.
After defeating Princeton to secure the inaugural Ivy League Tournament Championship, the Crimson topped No.6 seed Rutgers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The 2023 campaign ended after a 5-3 defeat against eventual national champion No. 1 seed North Carolina.
Harvard begins its journey with a pair of contests down south next weekend. The Crimson face William & Mary on Friday, Sept. 6 at 3 p.m. in the season opener, as it wraps up the weekend on Sunday, Sept. 8 with a showdown against Wake Forest at noon.
