Men's Heavyweight Rowing Tallies Seven Medalists at U23 World Championships

St. CATHERINE'S, Ontario –– Seven current Harvard men's heavyweight rowers took home medals at the 2024 U23 World Championships this past weekend, five of which claimed gold.

Cameron Beyki '26, Gabriel Obholzer '25, and Tyler Horler '26 all claimed first place in the men's eight final, winning a gold medal for Great Britain. The eight crossed the finish line 2.77 seconds ahead of the U.S. men's eight.

Josh Brangan '26, the bow seat of the Great Britain men's four, won a gold by 1.60 seconds over second-place Australia. 

Sitting in the bow seat of the U.S. men's coxed four, Leo Bessler '26 secured gold, winning with a 4.2-second margin over second place. 

Ben Scott '26 stroked the Australia men's eight to a bronze medal while Josh Gordon '25 earned bronze for New Zealand in the men's four final.

Marco Gandola '27 finished fifth in the men's four final with Italy while Apostolos Lykomitros '26 finished ninth overall in the men's pair.
