CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Sailing endured rainy conditions in New England over the weekend and posted a trio of top-6 finishes. The Crimson has now finished among the top seven in eight of its nine regattas this fall.
Hood Trophy | Medford, Mass.
The Crimson finished in first place amongst a fleet of 20 teams, posting a score of 134 in the two-division event. Harvard's
Harrison Strom and
Kennedy Leehealey recorded the top score regardless of division, logging a 64, which was one better than Yale 2's A-boat. Strom-Leehealey ended in first place only once (Race 12), but was consistent throughout, finishing in the top nine in 12 of 13 races.
Cordelia Burn, who competed with three crew members (
Margo Silliman (1-2, 9-12),
William Bourell (3-8),
Xavier Ayala-Vermont (13)), started slow, coming in 19
th and 10
th place in Races 1 and 2, respectively, only to rebound in resounding fashion. The Harvard A-boat posted finishes in the top six in the next 10 races, including three first-place efforts (Race 6, 7, 11).
Eagle Invitational | Boston, Mass.
Harvard finished in fourth place with 180 points on a Saturday that featured a breeze out of the north-northeast at approximately 15 knots and steady rain. The Crimson B-grouping of
Kate Danielson and
Katherine Shin enjoyed the top performance of the day, finishing in among the top eight in five of six races (7-6-7-11-8-8) en route to a 47.
Zoey Ziskind and
Peyton Hadfield occupied Harvard's A-boat and finished four points shy of Danielson-Shin. The duo, however, logged the Crimson's best finish of the day, a fourth-place effort in Race 5.
Olivia Hogan-Lopez and
Catherine Li, meanwhile, raced in Division C and posted an 82, with their top performance coming in the final race of the day (ninth in Race 6). Harvard finished behind Boston College (87), Roger Williams (108) and Brown (169), and ahead of Bowdoin (198) and Northeastern (293).
Sherman Hoyt Trophy | Providence, R.I.
Harvard posted a sixth-place performance in the 18-team event after notching a score of 210. Both Crimson boats were equally consistent despite rainy conditions, as each finished among the top nine 10 different times. The A-boat of
Mitchell Callahan and
Alexandra Dorofeev logged 104 points, with their top efforts coming in Race 3 and 14 (fourth).
Robby Meek skippered the Crimson B-boat, with
Amelie Zucker (1-4) performing crew duties before giving way to
JJ Drummond (5-14). The trio combined for a score of 106 and finished on a strong note, going 5-5-9-7 in the final four races. When the water settled, Roger Williams earned the victory with 128 points and was followed by Brown 1 (133), Dartmouth (173), Rhode Island (176) and Yale (193).

Harvard is slated to compete at four different events this weekend, Sept. 28-29, with a pair set for New London, Connecticut (Women's Atlantic Coast Championship – Round 1, Moody Danmark Trophy). The Crimson is also scheduled to appear at the Moody Trophy (Kingston, R.I.) and BU Invitational (Boston, Mass.).
