CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Women's Swimming and Diving continued its unbeaten streak with a 194-106 home win over Penn on Saturday at Blodgett Pool. With the Senior Day victory, the Crimson improved to 8-0 on the season and 5-0 in the Ivy League.
How it Happened
- Harvard began its afternoon with a victory in the 200 medley relay. Anya Mostek, Aleksandra Denisenko, Sydney Lu and Mandy Brenner finished the race in 1:41.84, which was nearly two seconds faster than Penn's runner-up quartet (1:43.58).
- The relay marked the first of five straight swimming wins, with the 1,000 free the next victory on the board. Alexandra Bastone was not challenged as she paced the field with a time of 10:04.88. The next closest competitor, Penn's Anna Boeckman, clocked in at 10:16.70.
- The 200 free featured two Crimson swimmers at the top of the results board when it was all said and done. Molly Hamlin registered a time of 1:51.73 and was followed by Kaylee McDonald at 1:51.92.
- Mostek was next to taste victory with her 53.72 performance in the 100 back. Denisenko, meanwhile, closed the five-event run with a winning effort in the 100 breast (1:03.86). Stephanie Iannaccone, meanwhile, placed second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:04.49.
- First-year Ennika Carlson won the first diving competition of her Harvard career, securing the 3-meter title after earning personal-best 340.13 points. Elizabeth Miclau (season-best 317.55) and Remi Edvalson (season-best 314.63) rounded out the top three.
- Hamlin, Iannaccone and Bastone, in succession, each picked up their second wins of the day. Hamlin won a thrilling 200-back race, touching the pad in 2:01.13, just ahead of Penn's Kate Levensten (2:01.20). Iannaccone won the 200 breast (2:17.03), edging out teammates Gabriella Augustyn (2:18.01) and Denisenko (2:19.90). And finally, Bastone swept the distance events with a 500-free time of 4:53.71.
- Nina Janmyr, Edvalson and Amy Wotovich finished 1-2-3 on the 1-meter diving board. Janmyr posted a score of 297.68, with Edvalson and Wotovich turning in efforts of 293.10 and 292.13 (season best), respectively.
- Iannaccone closed out the individual events with a victory in the 200 IM (2:04.04) before the 200-free relay team of Lu, Brenner, Bylthe Wieclawek and McDonald pocketed one last win for the Crimson (1:34.89).
