PRINCETON, N.J. – For the first time in his debut season, first-year
Tam Gavenas is the Ivy League's Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, earning the honor after an impressive performance over the weekend at the Nuttycombe Invitational.
At one of the nation's premier cross country destinations, Gavenas shined, finishing in 26
th place in the men's championship 8k with a time of 23:42.3. With that showing, Gavenas ranked fourth among all first-years at the Nuttycombe Invitational, as his performance led the Crimson to a 13
th place showing in the team standings as well.
Earlier this month, Gavenas excelled in his collegiate debut at the Paul Short Run, finishing in third place in the men's 8k gold race with a time of 23:20.1. A native of Andover, Massachusetts, Gavenas won the 2024 Foot Locker National Championships in his senior year of high school.
Harvard begins the postseason next weekend, traveling to the Big Apple for the 2025 Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships hosted at Van Cortlandt Park.
