CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the first time in his career, former Harvard men's lacrosse standout Sam King '25 will compete with USA Lacrosse at the senior level when he joins the team for the Super Sixes Tournament in Canada later this week. A 2025 Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) All-Star and Tewaaraton Award finalist, King was named to the 24-man training camp roster last month and is part of the initial pool of players being considered for Team USA's 2028 Olympics Roster. The USILA First-Team All-America selection will now look to build his résumé with a strong performance on the international stage as the road to LA28 continues for Team USA and the sport of lacrosse.
King and Team USA will play four contests at this year's Super Sixes Tournament beginning on Friday, October 10. The Americans will open pool play with two games against the U.S. Virgin Islands (9:30 AM) and Mexico (8:30 PM) on Friday before facing the Haudenosaunee Nation (10:30 AM) and Germany (7:30 PM) on Saturday. The seamifinals will take place on Sunday morning at 9:30 AM, followed by the championship game at 3:30 PM.
The Super Sixes Tournament was created in 2021 by World Lacrosse to help promote the game in the lead-up to its Olympic debut. The United States has not competed in the event since that inaugural year, when it posted a 3-1 record against teams from Canada and the Haudenosaunee Nation.
King was selected by Team USA to compete in the initial training camp last month (Sep. 26-28) and joined 23 of the top men's lacrosse players in the nation at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Maryland. Now, King will continue to compete for Team USA as he aims to secure a spot on future international tournament rosters.
King graduated from Harvard in 2025 after a historic career with the Crimson. His long list of accomplishments includes four All-Ivy honors, two All-America team selections – including a spot on the First Team in 2025, marking the first time in 63 years a Harvard student-athlete earned the top honor – and the 2025 NEILA New England Player of the Year award. King was also selected as a Tewaaraton Award Finalist in 2025, becoming the first Harvard student-athlete to earn that distinction.
After leading the Crimson to the Ivy League and NCAA Tournaments, King was selected by the Utah Archers in the PLL College Draft and competed in his first professional season this past summer. King broke out in his rookie campaign, recording 13 goals and 10 assists for 24 total points, and was selected to compete in the 2025 PLL All-Star Game as one of only seven rookies to earn the honor.

The Road to Los Angeles 2028
The 2025 Super Sixes Tournament will be a major step on the road to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games for Team USA, giving the staff an early look at the player pool competing for a spot on the Olympic roster.
The fast-paced, high-energy variation of the sport focuses on speed, skill, and quick decision-making with fewer players on a shorter field. This format is designed to keep the action intense and the game flowing, making it a thrilling experience for both players and fans. Developed to fit into a shorter time frame while still showcasing the athleticism and strategy of the original game, Sixes is also the version of lacrosse that will make its debut at the 2028 Olympic Games—bringing the Creator's Game to the world's biggest sporting stage. Only 12 players will make the final roster for the Olympic Games.
