CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Sailing is set to compete at the 2025 ICSA Singlehanded National Championships, which will take place in Norfolk, Virginia. The two-day regatta is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8-Sunday, Nov. 9.

What to Know

• Robby Meek received an automatic berth to the open championship after the junior won the NEISA singlehanded title back in mid-September. Meek won that event with a final score of 30, which was 27 points better than the runner-up, Jake Homberger of Boston College.
• Meek will be making his third appearance at the national championship. He finished in fourth place as a first-year in 2023, and came in eighth last year.
• Sophia Montgomery and Kate Danielson will represent Harvard at the women's regatta after earning at-large invitations. For Montgomery, this will mark her fourth appearance at nationals. Danielson, meanwhile, will compete for the second time in as many seasons. Montgomery took second at the NEISA event, with Danielson coming in fourth.
• Montgomery enters the regatta as the defending national champion. The senior won the 2024 crown after finishing with a score of 49 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Her score was eight points clear of the runner-up, Gilda Dondona of Cornell.
• Montgomery has actually won the national title the last two times she has been a part of the field. Prior to her triumphant performance in 2024, Montgomery was the national champion in 2022. She took the 2023-24 season off to ready herself for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
• A sophomore, Danielson makes a return to the national championship after placing fourth in 2024. Danielson, who earned a score of 82, finished behind Montgomery (49), Dondona (57) and Okyanus Arikan (Rhode Island).
• The Harvard trio is trying to add to the program's list of ICSA singlehanded champions. In addition to Montgomery in 2022 and 2024, the Crimson has had three athletes win the open title (Robert Doyle – 1970, Vincent Porter – 2004, Henry Marshall – 2018) and Margaret Gill win a pair of women's championships (1999, 2001).
