Women’s Basketball Opens its 2025-26 Campaign Against St. John’s

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's basketball (0-0) will begin its 2025-26 campaign on its homecourt this Friday, November 7 against St. John's (1-0).  The Crimson's season will begin at 8:00 p.m. ET against the Red Storm inside Lavietes Pavilion and broadcast on ESPN+.

What to Know

  • Harvard is coming off arguably its best season in program history in 2024-25 as it accumulated a program-record 24 wins, won its first Ivy League Tournament Championship in program history, and returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2007.
  • After nearly two decades, the Crimson will raise another banner inside Lavietes Pavilion.  Harvard will honor its historic squad from last season as it is set to unveil the championship banner prior to tip-off this Friday.
  • To become the first non-No. 1 seed to win Ivy Madness, Harvard knocked off No. 2 Princeton (70-67) in the semifinals and No. 1 Columbia (74-71) in the championship.
  • After earning the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, the Crimson received its highest seed in program history, entering the postseason as a No. 10 seed.
  • Harvard graduated its two top scorers, Harmoni Turner and Elena Rodriguez, who were the only Crimson players to average in double figures last season.  Despite losing two historic players, the Crimson still welcomed back 11 players from its championship roster and added five first-years in a highly touted recruiting class.
  • Olivia Jones, Aubrey Shaw, Maya Nahar, Ava Krumweide, and Sam Wills make up Harvard's Class of 2029.  Prior to arriving in Cambridge, Shaw was a top-65 recruit out of Blue Valley North High School in Kansas.
  • As a part of its returners, the Crimson will be led by its trio of seniors in Gabby Anderson, Saniyah Glenn-Bello, and Katie Krupa.  The senior class brings experience, scoring, defensive prowess, and All-Ivy accolades from their first three years with Harvard.
  • Glenn-Bello is poised to step into a leading role this season.  The New York native was the third leading scorer a season ago averaging 6.4 points per game while playing more than 25 minutes a game.  As a junior, Glenn-Bello also tallied 105 rebounds, 29 steals, and a team-best 23 blocks.
  • In her first full season, Anderson started all 29 games and recorded 112 points, 130 rebounds, and 29 assists.  As one of the key pieces of the Crimson's defense, Anderson also tallied 50 steals in 2024-25.
  • In 2024-25, the Crimson established its defensive identity finishing the year as the fifth scoring defense in the nation by holding opponents to an average of 52.9 points per game.
  • Additionally, Harvard ranked 23rd in turnovers forced per game (20.31), 27th in steals per game (10.7), 33rd in three-point percentage defense (27.9), and 37th in field goal percentage defense (37.6).
  • In the Ivy League Harvard's defense ranked first for opponent field goal percentage (37.6), scoring (52.9), steals per game (10.7), and turnovers forced per game (20.31).
  • Prior to this season, Carrie Moore was named to the preseason watch list for the 2026 Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year Award.  Moore was one of the five finalists for the award last season.
  • In her third year at the helm, Moore continued to make history becoming the fastest coach to 50 wins in program history.
  • Moore also recorded her first ranked victory of her head-coaching career as she led the Crimson past No. 25 Indiana in just the second game of the season in 2024-25.  Alongside the win over the Hoosiers, Moore also coached the Crimson to two additional power conference wins, marking the most in a single season in program history.
  • Harvard received votes 17 times in the AP Top 25 poll last season after never having been recognized in the rankings in program history.  Additionally, the Crimson finished the year with a NET ranking of 38 and ranked as high as 32 during the season.
  • St. John's narrowly leads the all-time series, 2-3.  Last year's matchup between the two teams was an instant classic with Harvard winning 54-52 on a buzzer beater from Turner.

Next Up

Next, the Crimson will travel to Coach Moore's home state to take on No. 13 Michigan in Ann Arbor on Sunday, November 9 at 12:00 p.m. ET.
