Harvard Softball Alumnae Spotlight: Megan "Odis" Lantz '19

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard softball is honored to spotlight Meagan "Odis" Lantz, a proud member of the Class of 2019. During her time at Harvard, Meagan lived in Adams House and concentrated in Cognitive Neuroscience and Evolutionary Psychology. She was also involved in several parts of campus life, including Harvard Yearbook, Kappa Alpha Theta, and serving as a Peer Advising Fellow.

Today, Meagan works as a Physician Assistant in cardiac surgery, a role where she feels many of the lessons from Harvard Softball continue to guide her. Coming from a true HSB family, she spent four years in the program after watching her sister play from 2011 to 2015. Experiencing those eight combined years of HSB taught her the value of teamwork, dedication, and taking pride in the impact you leave behind.

Reflecting on her time with Harvard Softball, Meagan often thinks about Coach Allard's message to "leave it better than you found it," a phrase she still carries with her into the operating room. She says working in healthcare feels a lot like being on a high-level sports team, where every person plays a critical role and the success of the whole group depends on each member. Her years with HSB helped prepare her for that kind of environment both personally and professionally.

One of her favorite memories is winning the 2018 Ivy League Championship. While the game itself was unforgettable, what she remembers most is waking up the next morning to a teammate rewatching the final inning and gladly sitting down to watch it together from the start. She also looks back fondly on late nights in the dining hall watching softball, BerryLine trips in the middle of winter, long bus rides to Princeton and Cornell, and all the small moments in between that made her experience so special.

Meagan's advice to current Harvard Softball players is simple, "Enjoy every moment, even the hard ones. You'll have plenty of time to be an adult later, but the chance to play the sport you love with people who understand you goes by quickly. Soak it all in."
