No. 3 Women’s Squash Defeats No. 4 Penn, 6-3

CAMBRIDGE, Mass – The No. 3 Harvard women's squash team continued to roll this season with a 6-3 victory over the No. 4 Penn Quakers this afternoon at the Murr Center Squash Courts. The Crimson (8-1, 5-0 Ivy) remain unbeaten in Ivy League play with the result and set up an Ivy League Championship clinching scenario tomorrow when it takes on the top-ranked Princeton Tigers at the Murr Center.
 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Crimson returned to its home courts this afternoon to take on its Ivy Rival, Penn. Coming off a successful run at the CSA Individual National Championships, the Crimson looked to continue its success in team play with a win over the Quakers.
 
Harvard started strong in the first wave of matches, earning three consecutive victories. Amira Singh kicked off the match with a quick 3-0 victory at sevens. Habiba Eldafrawy and Lucie Stefanoni followed by taking care of business at the three and four pairings to put Harvard in the lead earl at 3-0.
 
Harvard clinched the match in the second wave after wins by Molly Stoltz and Ocean Ma at the six and five matchups, respectively. Stoltz won her match, 3-0, and Ma captured a 3-1 win to seal the victory for Harvard. The Quaker got a tally on the board after Malak Khafagy defeated Saran Nghiem at the top of the ladder.
 
Caroline Fouts would add the final Harvard point of the day with a sweeping win at the twos match. Emma Carney and Brecon Welch battled in their matches at eight and nine, respectively, but eventually fell to make the final score 6-3 in favor of the Crimson.

The No. 3 Harvard women's squash team will have a chance to clinch the Ivy League Championship tomorrow afternoon when it takes on the top-ranked Princeton Tigers. The Crimson and the Tigers are set to clash at 12:00 PM at the Murr Center Squash Courts with the match set to air live on the Ivy League Streaming Platform.
