NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Harvard Women's Swimming and Diving completed the HYP meet on Saturday and emerged with victories over Yale and Princeton, sweeping the annual get-together for the first time since 2013-14. The Crimson downed the Bulldogs, 170-129, and earned a 156-143 decision over the Tigers.
With its two dual-meet victories, Harvard improved to 10-0 on the season and completed its Ivy League schedule with a 7-0 record. As a result of its unblemished conference mark, the Crimson won its first dual-meet championship since 2014-15 and its first outright crown since 2012-13. Harvard also posted its first 10-win season since it went 10-0 in 2005-06.
How It Happened
- Nina Janmyr won the first event of the day – the 1-meter diving competition – with a final score of 294.55. Amy Wotovich, meanwhile, came in fifth place after totaling 272.15.
- The first swimming event of the day saw Mandy Brenner record Harvard's best time in the 100 free. The senior came in fourth with an effort of 50.67.
- Anya Mostek led the way for the Crimson in the 200 back, posting the team's best time in 2024-25 (1:56.01), while finishing in second place. Molly Hamlin was not far behind, coming in third place with a season-best time of 1:56.37.
- Harvard placed two swimmers in the top four of the 200 breast. Aleksandra Denisenko finished in third place with a season-best time of 2:13.64. Stephanie Iannaccone, meanwhile, came in fourth at 2:13.84 (season best).
- Alexandra Bastone continued her stellar showing at HYP, winning the 500 free after capturing the 1,000 and 200 on Friday. The sophomore won the 500 free with a season-best time of 4:40.71, which was a pool record and NCAA B-standard, and improved her grip on the No. 2 position on Harvard's all-time performance list. Kaylee McDonald, meanwhile, came in third place after finishing the race in 4:52.71.
- Sydney Lu won the 100 fly with a pool-record time of 53.03 (NCAA B-standard). Her performance was a new season best, erasing her previous top time of 53.30, accomplished at the Minnesota Invitational.
- To close the meet, the Crimson 400-free-relay group went stroke for stroke with Princeton. Harvard, however, came up just short, finishing in 3:18.72, which was a season-best performance. The Tigers, meanwhile, clocked in at 3:18.14.
