Women’s Tennis to Open Six-Match Homestand on Saturday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Women's Tennis is set to begin a stretch of six straight home matches on Saturday with Wisconsin and Quinnipiac visiting the Murr Center Tennis Courts. The Crimson's dual with the Badgers is slated for a noon ET start and its head-to-head with the Bobcats is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET. Both matches will air on Stretch Internet.

What to Know

  • Harvard (3-5) is coming off a 1-2 performance at the ECAC Championships in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, last week. The Crimson swept Dartmouth, 4-0, to open the competition, but fell to Columbia, 4-1, and Princeton, 4-2, in the three-matches-in-three-days event.
  • Despite the uneven results in the City of Brotherly Love, the Crimson comes into this week's action having won three of its last five matches. Harvard is also returning to a venue that it is a perfect 2-0 at this season.
  • Holly Fischer notched points for Harvard at the No. 1 singles position in all three of the Crimson's matches at the ECAC Championships. Pairing with Charlotte Owensby at No. 1 doubles, the duo was victorious against Dartmouth and Princeton.
  • Maxi Duncan and Natalie Block registered solid performances in two of their matches at ECACs. The duo breezed to wins at No. 3 against Dartmouth and Columbia. Their contest vs. Princeton was abandoned after the Crimson secured the doubles point.
  • Kavya Karra enjoyed a 2-1 week with Stephanie Yakoff in doubles, winning in 6-2 fashion at No. 2 vs. Dartmouth and Princeton. The victory against the Big Green was the clinching point and the duo was the first off the court as the Crimson earned the point vs. the Tigers. The sophomore was also a winner at No. 6 singles against Princeton, with her other two matches abandoned.
  • Harvard comes into its match with Wisconsin sporting a 3-2 all-time record against the Badgers. Wisconsin, however, won the last meeting, 4-3, in March 2008. Saturday's tilt will mark Wisconsin's first visit to Cambridge.
  • Wisconsin is 5-1 on the season and has won four straight matches, including last week's 7-0 decision at Kansas and its 4-3 victory vs. Arkansas (Lawrence, Kansas). The Badgers will face Boston College on Friday.
  • The Crimson will put its 5-0 all-time record on the line vs. Quinnipiac. The last time these schools met, Harvard won, 4-0, at Murr Center.
  • Quinnipiac is 1-2, having lost at Yale (7-0) and defeated NJIT (7-0). The Bobcats' second loss came most recently against UConn (1-6).
