Women’s Tennis Begins ECAC Championships Against Dartmouth

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's tennis will begin its run in the ECAC Championships in Philadelphia, Pa. tomorrow as it faces Dartmouth at 5:00 p.m. ET in the opening round.

What to Know

  • The Crimson will compete in the ECAC Championships as the No. 2 seed, seeded only behind last season's Ivy League Champions, the Princeton Tigers.
  • Despite falling in the opening round of the championships last season, the Crimson finished the weekend by sweeping Cornell and Dartmouth to kick start its program record, 14-match win streak. 
  • Last weekend, the Crimson registered its first two wins of the season, dropping a pair of crosstown foes (Boston College, Boston University) in 6-1 decisions. 
  • Stephanie Yakoff, Maxi Duncan, Natalie Block, and Kavya Karra each went 2-0 in singles action while competing at the final four spots in the lineup. 
  • Harvard won the doubles point in either mach as Holly Fischer and Charlotte Owensby collected two wins while competing at the No. 1 spot and Duncan and Block connected to go 2-0 on court three.
  • Fischer and Owensby have been on a tear to begin the spring, combining for a 4-0 record while competing primarily at the No. 1 doubles spot. 
  • Overall, Karra leads the team in both individual and doubles wins as she currently sits with a singles record of 11-3 and a doubles record of 13-5. 
  • Harvard holds a strong 40-12 advantage in the all-time series versus the Dartmouth Big Green.  In their last meeting, the Crimson came out on top narrowly, 4-3.

Pending Friday's results, the Crimson will compete against Columbia or Brown in either the 11:00 a.m. or 5:00 p.m. match.
