CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men's Basketball first-year guard
Robert Hinton has earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors for the eighth time this season, tying the conference record for most rookie of the awards won in a single season in men's basketball, the Ivy League conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Hinton tallied a game-high 18 points, a team-best six rebounds, three assists, and three steals, while making 7-of-14 field goals in Harvard's 66-58 win over Dartmouth. He scored in double figures for the 19
th time on the season and led the Crimson in scoring for the 12
th time on the year. Hinton closed the season with 393 total points, ranking second on Harvard's single-season scoring list for a first-year.
At the end of the regular season, he ranked ninth in the Ivy League in points per game (14.6), fourth in free throws made (87), sixth in field goals made (145), and seventh in steals per game (1.3). Among first-years in the NCAA, he stands 17
th in points per game (14.6) and 13
th in field goals made per game (5.4).
Hinton won the award in all five months of the season, capturing the accolades twice in November, once in December, twice in January, twice in February, and once in March.
As a team, Harvard tallied nine Ivy League Rookie of the Week awards on the season with Hinton winning the award eight times (Nov. 11, Nov. 25, Dec. 9, Jan. 13, Jan. 21, Feb. 3, Feb. 24, Mar. 10), and fellow first-year guard
Austin Hunt capturing the award once (Dec. 30).
