FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Harvard Men's Swimming and Diving's
David Schmitt competed in the 100 butterfly on Friday morning at the 2025 NCAA Championships inside Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center.
A sophomore from San Juan Capistrano, California, Schmitt swam out of Lane 1 of Heat 2 and finished the race in 45.76, placing fourth. The time was 0.01 shy of Schmitt's personal best of 45.75. After six preliminary heats, Schmitt found himself with the 36
th-fastest time and did not advance to the finals.
Schmitt will return to the pool on Saturday to compete in the prelims of the 200 fly. The preliminary session is set for a 1 p.m. ET start. Should the sophomore finish in the top 16, he will move on to the finals, along with Harvard's 400 free relay. The night session is slated to begin at 9 p.m. ET. ESPN+ will cover both sessions live.
