Mick Thompson has been named National Rookie of the Month, the Hockey Commissioners Association announced today.
The Mississauga native added 12 points in eight games in the month of February after starting the month with points in four straight games. Thompson recorded six points in the first four games after adding a point in both Beanpot games, a goal against Dartmouth and three points on the road at St. Lawrence.
Thompson continued his run after adding back-to-back three point games against RPI and Yale as the regular season came to a close. The rookie finished the month with 3 three point games and became the first freshman to have 3 three point games since 2002.
Thompson became just the 7
th Crimson rookie since 2002 to have 25+ points in his first season in Cambridge and has 19 points in his last 19 games.
