CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's tennis will remain home this weekend for its final of six straight home matches, welcoming UMass (Mar. 8, 1:00 p.m.) and NJIT (Mar. 9, 11:00 a.m.) to the Murr Center.
What to Know
- The Crimson have started its season 5-7 including going 1-1 in its two matches last weekend.
- To open the back-to-back, the Crimson dropped Stony Brook in dominant fashion, 7-0. Harvard than faced a setback as it fell to the Memphis Tigers, 4-1.
- Against the Seawolves, Harvard recorded each singles victory in straight sets led by a perfect 6-0, 6-0 performance from Stephanie Yakoff at court three.
- Kavya Karra has had a strong sophomore campaign, leading the Crimson in both singles and doubles wins with 14 and 15, respectively.
- Karra added to her singles total last weekend with a pair of straight set results while appearing at the No. 6 spot.
- Captains Rachel Arbitman and Angel You have been a strong presence in the doubles lineup as of late, recording 6-0 results in each of their last three outings.
- Harvard has never lost in its ten previous meetings with the Minutewomen of UMass-Amherst. Last season, the Crimson defeated the instate rival, 4-1.
- Sunday's meeting will be just the second match up all-time between Harvard and NJIT. The Crimson were victorious in the sole match up in 2013, 7-0.
