Men’s Volleyball Hosts Dominican University of New York in Final Non-Conference Battle

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard men's volleyball (8-10, 5-3 EIVA) will host Dominican University of New York (5-19, 2-2 ECC) this Friday, April 4 at 7:00 p.m. ET in its final non-conference matchup and home contest of the season.

What to Know

  • The Crimson is currently 8-10 overall and 5-3 in conference following its most recent three-match weekend.
  • Despite currently sitting fourth in the conference, Harvard is tied for the most wins in the conference with five with just four EIVA matches remaining.
  • Last weekend, Harvard split its season series with George Mason, falling in a five-set thriller before bouncing back with a dominant 3-0 win the next day.  The Crimson then closed out the weekend with an impressive 3-0 sweep of Daemen.
  • Over the three-match span, Owen Woolbert put up strong performances to earn the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week honor.  The sophomore averaged 6.3 kills, a .484 hitting percentage, and 5.3 total blocks per match in the 2-1 weekend.  His six blocks against George Mason on Friday tied his individual season high.
  • As a team, the Crimson ranks second in the EIVA in aces and digs by averaging 1.40 and 8.12, respectively.  On the defensive side, Harvard is first in opponent aces (1.03) and second in opponent kills (11.38) and hitting percentage (.241).
  • Thomas Phung and Logan Shepherd both represent the Crimson in the top five in the EIVA for digs, ranking first with 1.94 digs/set and fourth with 1.79 digs/set, respectively.
  • Zach Berty has had a strong junior campaign for the Crimson, currently ranking third in the league for hitting percentage by hitting .294 while accumulating 116 kills.
  • Friday's meeting will be just the second ever matchup between the two teams.  Harvard won the first battle, last year, 3-1.
