Women’s Tennis Set to Face UCLA in the NCAA Tournament Round of 64

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 73 Harvard women's tennis will begin its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance against No. 17 UCLA on Friday, May 2 at 11:00 a.m. CT/12:00 p.m. ET in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

What to Know

  • The Crimson ended its regular season with seven straight victories to finish with a 15-8 overall record.
  • Harvard completed its Ivy League season perfect after closing the year with wins over No. 69 Columbia (4-3) and Cornell (4-2).
  • With its 7-0 Ivy League record, Harvard completed an undefeated conference season for the first time since 2006.  Additionally, the Crimson claimed its first conference crown since 2017.
  • In the final ITA rankings before the postseason, Harvard entered the poll for the first time this season, checking in at No. 73.
  • After another historic season, the Crimson were well represented in the Ivy League year-end honors headlined by Holly Fischer's second straight unanimous First-Team All-Ivy selection for singles.
  • Fischer received another first-team nod, as she and doubles partner Stephanie Yakoff were named First-Team All-Ivy for doubles.
  • Yakoff earned her second individual All-Ivy honor in as many years, being named Second-Team All-Ivy for singles.
  • Maxi Duncan and Charlotte Owensby each received Honorable Mention All-Ivy for singles while Duncan and Kavya Karra closed out the Crimson honors with an Honorable Mention All-Ivy nod for doubles.
  • After not making the NCAA Tournament since 2010, the Crimson advanced to its second consecutive postseason.  Last year, Harvard was knocked out with a 4-0 loss to No. 9 Texas.
  • The Crimson is looking to advance in the tournament for the first time since 2005, when it defeated Maryland, 4-0, in the opening round before defeating Tennessee, 4-1, to advance to the Sweet Sixteen.
  • Friday's matchup will be the fourth between the two teams and the first since 1995.  A win would mark a historic first for the Crimson as it has never beaten the Bruins, most recently falling 9-0 in 1995.
