Payne, Sun Earn NFCA Northeast All-Region Third Team Status

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After tremendous performances throughout the 2025 campaign, junior infielder Finley Payne and sophomore infielder Sophie Sun garner Northeast All-Region Third Team honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

A native of Liberty Township, Ohio, Payne orchestrated a career-year at the plate, powering the Crimson lineup throughout the season. In 36 starts, Payne registered career-highs in batting average (.371), hits (43), doubles (8), home runs (6), RBIs (23), slugging percentage (.612) and on-base percentage (.425). An All-Ivy League Second Team selection this season, Payne logged 13 multi-hit performances, including going a perfect four-for-four at the plate in the series opener against Columbia in the regular season. Payne takes NFCA Northeast All-Region recognition for the first time in her Crimson career.

One of the top talents in the Ancient Eight, Sun is now a two-time NFCA Northeast All-Region honoree, as she captured a spot on the NFCA Northeast All-Region Second Team status last season. Sun's encore season was one to remember, as the Austin, Texas native ranked in the top-five in the Ivy League in batting average (.411), on-base percentage (.469), runs scored (33) and hits (53), as the 2024 Ivy League Player and Rookie of the year also led the Crimson in all those categories as well.

Harvard softball ended the 2025 season with a 26-13 record, as the Crimson earned a spot to the Ivy League Tournament for a third consecutive year.
