CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the first time this season, Harvard track & field is hitting the road, as the Crimson will compete at the Dr. Sander Scorcher at The Armory in New York, New York on Friday, Jan. 23 and Saturday, Jan. 24.
WHAT TO KNOW:
- Last weekend saw Harvard returned to competition after the winter recess with stellar results at the Beantown Challenge.
- Competing on their home turf of Gordon Indoor Track, Crimson student-athletes set six new all-time top 10 marks at the Beantown Challenge.
- In his 2025-26 season debut, junior Amari Turner won the men's 300m with a time of 33.42, a mark that ranks second all-time in school history. A native of Sanford, Florida, Turner also ran a personal-best 6.75 on his way to fourth place finish in the 60m, a mark that is tied for sixth all-time in program history.
- The men's 300m also saw sophomore Hudson Allain post the fourth-fastest time in school history in the event, taking second after crossing the finish line in 33.72.
- After impressing in his collegiate debut earlier this season at the HBCU & Ivy Challenge, first-year Joachim Johnson cleared a personal-best 2.11m (6'11") for a win in the men's high jump. A native of Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, Johnson is now tied for fifth all-time in school history in the men's high jump.
- Junior Simon Weiser orchestrated a breakout showing in the men's 60 hurdles, finishing in fourth with a time of 8.04, a time that is currently fifth all-time in school history.
- Over in the women's 60 hurdles, sophomore Abigail Dennis finished in third in the event, as her personal-best time of 8.57 is the 10th fastest time in program history.
- A four-time All-American in the 800m, junior Sophia Gorriaran opened her third season in Cambridge on a high note in the women's mile at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, as her time of 4:32.94 ranks fourth in the nation heading into the weekend. A native of Providence, Rhode Island, Gorriaran also leads the Ivy League in the women's mile.
- A premier indoor track & field destination across the globe, The Armory will also host the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships on Saturday, Feb. 28 and Sunday, Mar. 1.
- Seniors Mfoniso Andrew and Jacklynn Okereke, along with junior Alice Mihas, are the women's team captains this year, while seniors Jonas Clarke and Daire Mahon are the men's team captains.
- Jason Saretsky, The William W. "Bill" McCurdy Director of Track and Field/Cross Country, is in his 20th season at the helm of the Crimson track & field program.
UP NEXT:
Harvard will feature in a pair of meets on Friday, Jan. 30 and Saturday, Jan. 31, as the Crimson will host the Harvard Invitational and will head across town for the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center.
