Track & Field Posts Stellar Results to Start Weekend

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard track & field kick-started its weekend by orchestrating strong results across the map, producing impressive performances at the Crimson Open, David Hemery Valentine Invitational and Tiger Paw Invitational.

Down in Clemson, South Carolina, senior Fabiola Belibi enjoyed a fantastic day in the women's 60 hurdles. Competing against some of the top talent across the nation, Belibi advanced to the semifinal round, ending her time at the Tiger Paw Invitational with a 18th place finish. The Ivy League's defending champion in the women's 60m hurdles, Belibi matched her personal-best mark with a time of 8.29.

CRIMSON OPEN HIGHLIGHTS
  • Harvard opened the Crimson open with the women's 3000m, as first-year Caitlyn Chang crossed the finish line in 10:49.45 to take 16th place.
  • A major showing arrived for Harvard in the women's weight throw invite. Junior and team captain Alice Mihas completed a career day in the event, finishing in second place with a personal-best throw of 18.27m (59'11.25"). A native of Chicago, Illinois, Mihas now ranks ninth all-time in school history in the women's weight throw.
  • An All-America Second Team selection in the women's long jump last season, junior Marta Amani finished in second in the women's long jump invite. Amani's mark of 6.05m (19'10.25") represents a season-best for the Villa Cortese, Italy native.
  • Sophomore Abigail Dennis continues to make strides in the women's 60 hurdles, taking fourth place with a personal-best time of 8.41 in the finals. Dennis is now tied for fifth all-time in the women's 60 hurdles in school history.
  • Harvard's stellar form continued in the women's 60m, as junior Mickaila Haisley ran a personal-best 7.49 to finish in second place, while sophomore Saige Forbes took fourth place with a personal-best 7.52. A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Haisley's time from the Crimson Open ranks 10th all-time in school history.
  • In the women's shot put invite, sophomore Tyler Glover finished in second place, doing so with a throw of 15.26m (50'.75").
  • Sophomore Kaelin Creagh highlights Harvard's showing in the women's 500m, finishing in fifth place with a time of 1:14.81.
  • The women's pole vault invite saw junior Lilly Hodge excel, as the Keene, Kentucky native finished in first place after clearing a personal-best 4.18m (13'8.5"). That mark ranks third all-time in program history.
  • After an outstanding showing in the women's 60m, Forbes shifted focus to the women's triple jump, taking fifth place with a leap of 11.42m (37'5.75").
  • The opening day of the Crimson Open concluded with the women's high jump, as first-year Jillene Wetteland finished in 10th place after successfully jumping over 1.63m (5'4.25").
DAVID HEMERY VALENTINE INVITATIONAL RESULTS
  • Harvard men's team took center stage in the first day of action at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, as senior Justin Levy started the day with a 22nd place finish, recording a time of 48.48 in the process.
  • Two Crimson finished in the top 25 of the men's 400m open at the BU Track & Tennis Center. First-year Oliver Parker took 22nd with a time of 49.19, while sophomore Brayden Chavez ran a 49.21 to take 23rd place.
  • In the men's 800m open, first-year Preston Ellis finished in 31st place, as his time of 1:52.41 is a personal-best.
  • Junior Timi Esan highlighted the Crimson's output in the men's 200m, as the London, United Kingdom native ran a 21.35 to capture fourth place. After setting the school record in the men's 200m last weekend, junior Amari Turner ran a 21.67 to take 12th place. Senior and team captain Jonas Clarke ran a 21.85 to take 19th place.
  • A pair of first-years featured in the men's 1000m, as first-year Levi Harrison led the way with a 35th place showing, running a time of 2:28.94 to secure his position. First-year Arashi Hunter posted a 2:29.25 to take 37th place.
  • First-year Arpad Kovacs, sophomore Hudson Allain, sophomore Liam Acevedo and Levy orchestrated a breakthrough performance in the men's 4x400m relay, winning the event with a time of 3:07.49. That mark ranks second all-time in program history.
  • Running in the Invite section of the men's mile, first-year Grant Schroder crossed the finish line in 4:04.27 to finish in 51st place.
  • The afternoon across town ended with the men's 3000m open, as six different Crimson competed in the event. Junior Charlie Ortmans led the way, finishing in 13th place with a time of 7:50.50, a time that ranks fourth all-time in school history. Fellow classmate Sam Burgess finished in 54th place with a time of 8:04.88.
  • Junior Owen Bosley took 131st after crossing the finish line in 8:20.43, as sophomore Solomon Kwartowitz made his season debut with a 150th place finish, logging a time of 8:25.16. Junior Ethan Aidam ran a 8:29.48 to finish in 160th place, as first-year Brady Mullen rounded out the day with a 163rd place showing and a time of 8:34.04.
