CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the first time this season, Harvard track & field sophomore
Ella Cooper is the Ivy League's Women's Athlete of the Week, earning the honor after a stellar performance at the BU Track & Tennis Center.
Racing in the 200m invite section at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, Cooper took home the win with a personal-best time of 23.36. Cooper's mark at the BU Track & Tennis Center is the fastest in the Ivy League in eight years, as the time ranks second all-time in both conference and school history behind Gabby Thomas' '19 run of 22.38, a collegiate record at the time, at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championships.
Cooper is enjoying a breakout season on the track. A native of Owings Mill, Maryland, Cooper currently leads the Ivy League in the women's 200m by over a half a second. Cooper has not finished below third place in the 200m this season.
The Crimson end the indoor regular season this weekend, competing at the Saucony Battle for Boston on Sunday, Feb. 17.
