Track & Field Ends Indoor Regular Season at Saucony Battle for Boston on Sunday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard track & field closes out the 2025-26 indoor regular season this weekend, as the Crimson will head to Boston University's Track & Tennis Center for the Saucony Battle for Boston on Sunday, Feb. 22.

WHAT TO KNOW:
  • Last weekend saw the Crimson once again thrive on the national stage, as Harvard student-athletes orchestrated at the Crimson Open, David Hemery Valentine Invitational and the Tiger Paw Invitational.
  • Sophomore Ella Cooper continued her breakout season in the women's 200m at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, taking first place in the invite section with a personal-best time of 23.36. Cooper's mark is the fastest in the 200m in the Ivy League since 2018, when Gabby Thomas '19 won the national title with a time of 22.38 at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championships.
  • A native of Owings Mills, Maryland, Cooper leads the Ivy League in the women's 200m by over half a second this season. For her efforts last weekend, Cooper earned Ivy League Women's Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in her Crimson tenure.
  • Two Crimson distance runners also set top five marks in the 3000m at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational. In her season debut, senior Molly Malague took 13th place in the women's 3000m open with a personal-best time of 9:09.57, the top time in the Ivy League this season and a mark that ranks third all-time in school history. The men's 3000m saw junior Charlie Ortmans also finish in 13th place with a personal-best time of 7:50.50, another No. 3 mark in school history.
  • Malague leads the Ivy League in the women's 300m this season, while Ortmans also owns the top spot in the men's 3000m in the Ancient Eight.
  • Junior Sophia Gorriaran shined in the elite section of the women's mile at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, taking 12th place with a personal-best time of 4:29.53, a mark that ranks second in both Ivy League and school history.
  • A four-time All-American in the women's 800m across both indoor and outdoor competition, Gorriaran ranks eighth nationally in the 800m (2:01.30) and 20th in the mile (4:29.53).
  • Seniors Mfoniso Andrew and Jacklynn Okereke, along with junior Alice Mihas, are the women's team captains, while seniors Jonas Clarke and Daire Mahon are the men's team captains.
  • Jason Saretsky, The William W. "Bill" McCurdy Director of Track and Field/Cross Country, is in his 20th season at the helm of the Crimson track & field and cross country programs.
UP NEXT

Harvard begins the postseason on Saturday, Feb. 28 and Sunday, Mar. 1, returning to New York City for the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships.
