CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men's Basketball plays at Princeton on Friday, Feb. 27 at 7:00 p.m. (ESPN+) at Jadwin Gymnasium in Princeton, New Jersey and at Penn on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 6:00 p.m. (ESPN+/NBC Sports Boston) in its final roads games of the regular season with the Crimson entering the weekend in second place in the Ivy League standings and having secured a spot in the Ivy League Tournament.
What to Know
- Harvard (15-10, 8-3 Ivy) enters the weekend in second place in the Ivy League standings while Princeton (8-18, 4-7 Ivy) and Penn (13-11, 6-5 Ivy) stand in sixth and third place respectively in the conference standings. The Crimson has earned at least one win over all seven other Ivy League programs on the year.
- With Harvard's win at Cornell (Feb. 21), the Crimson secured its spot in the Ivy League Tournament which will take place at the Big Red's Newman Arena in Ithaca, New York from March 14-15. The men's semifinals will take place on March 14 at 11:00 a.m. (ESPNU) and 2:00 p.m. (ESPNU) ahead of the final on March 15 at noon (ESPN2). Open shootarounds for the men's teams will take place on March 13.
- The Crimson has qualified for Ivy Madness for the first time since 2020 and will compete at the event for the first time since 2019 as the 2020 edition of the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Crimson qualified for each of the first three editions of the tournament in 2017, 2018, and 2019, advancing to the tournament final in both 2018 and 2019.
- In a victory that secured its spot in the postseason, sophomore guard Tey Barbour scored a game-high 30 points, and the Crimson won its sixth straight road win to secure a spot in the four-team Ivy League Tournament behind a 73-54 win at Cornell on Feb. 21. The Crimson held the Big Red – a team that entered the contest averaging 90.3 points per game – to a season-low scoring output while Barbour captured Ivy League Player of the Week honors after making 10-of-15 field goals, 4-of-9 3-pointers, and 6-of-7 free throws for his 30 points.
- The Crimson has posted an 8-2 record in its last 10 games dating back to Jan. 10. Over that time, Harvard has notched a two-game sweep of Brown and one win over all six other Ivy League schools. During that stretch, Harvard has shot 47.0 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from downtown, and 81.8 percent at the free throw line. Sophomore guard Robert Hinton (18.9 PPG, 53.8 FG%, 45.2 3PT%), sophomore guard Tey Barbour (16.3 PPG, 42.0 3PT%), junior forward Thomas Batties II (14.2 PPG, 41.8 3PT%), and senior guard Chandler Piggé (11.3 PPG) have all scored in double figures during the stretch.
- Harvard has won six straight road games from Dec. 28 to Feb. 21 behind victories at Colgate (78-69), Columbia (79-54), Brown (69-59), Yale (67-65), Dartmouth (71-58), and Cornell (73-54). Over that span, the Crimson has shot 48.5 percent from the field, 40.8 percent from downtown, and 87.1 percent from the charity stripe. Sophomore guard Robert Hinton (18.2 PPG, 52.1 FG%, 43.8 3PT%), sophomore guard Tey Barbour (17.3 PPG, 58.2 FG%, 53.8 3PT%), junior forward Thomas Batties II (14.0 PPG), and senior guard Chandler Piggé (12.8 PPG, 50.0 FG%) have led Harvard during the streak.
- The Crimson has captured all five of its Ivy League road games on the year with victories at Columbia (79-54), Brown (69-59), Yale (67-65), Dartmouth (71-58), and Cornell (73-54).
- Harvard features four double-figure scorers in a group that includes sophomore guard Robert Hinton (17.1 points per game), sophomore guard Tey Barbour (13.6), senior guard Chandler Piggé (12.9), and junior forward Thomas Batties II (12.2) All four players have also scored in double figures in conference-only play behind Hinton (18.6), Barbour (15.7), Batties II (13.6), and Piggé (11.5). That quartet has combined to score 1,397 of the Crimson's 1,772 points (78.8 percent) on the year. That figure moves to 655 of 788 points (83.1 percent) in conference play. All four players rank in the top seven of the Ivy League in minutes played per game.
- Among the Crimson's four double-figure scorers, three of them averaged fewer than 7.0 points per game as first-years. Senior Chandler Piggé (1.9 points per game in 2022-23; 12.9 in 2025-26), junior Thomas Batties II (6.8 points per game in 2023-24; 12.2 in 2025-26), and sophomore Tey Barbour (4.8 points per game in 2024-25; 13.6 in 2025-26) have all increased their production over their careers.
- In the Ivy League rankings, Harvard stands first in scoring defense (67.2), first in 3-point percentage defense (31.4), first in free throw percentage (78.8), second in steals per game (7.32), and third in blocks per game (3.52). In Ivy only play, the team sits first in scoring defense (65.8), first in field goal percentage defense (42.1), first in 3-point percentage defense (30.3), first in free throw percentage (81.1), second in blocks per game (4.00), seconds in steals per game (7.18), and third in 3-point percentage (35.6). In the NCAA, the Crimson ranks second in free throw percentage (79.8), eighth in fewest fouls per game (14.1), 30th in scoring defense (67.2), 61st in 3-point percentage defense (31.4), and 65th in 3-point percentage (36.1).
- Sophomore guard Robert Hinton has averaged 17.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.4 steals per game on the year, while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor, 34.3 percent from downtown, and 81.8 percent on free throws. He has increased his production in conference play, posting 18.6 points per game, while shooting 53.4 percent from the field and 44.1 percent from downtown. Hinton ranks first in the Ivy League in field goals (161), second in points per game (17.1), second in points (428), fifth in free throws (83), fifth in free throw percentage (82.2), fifth in steals per game (1.4), fifth in minutes per game (32.8), and 11th in free throw percentage. In Ivy only play, he stands first in points (205), second in points per game (18.6), second in field goals (78), sixth in minutes per game (34.5), and seventh in field goal percentage (53.4). On the year, he has scored in double figures 21 times, netted 20 or more points eight times, and eclipsed 30 points twice. Hinton has scored in double figures in all 11 Ivy games. He earned Ivy League Player of the Week honors on Dec. 8 and Feb. 2 and gained a spot on the Lou Henson Award Early Season Watch List as a candidate for the mid-major player of the year award on Dec. 18. Hinton – the 2024-25 Ivy League Rookie of the Year – averaged 14.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game in 2024-25.
- Hinton dropped a career-high 35 points on 12-of-22 field goals and 11-of-12 free throws with eight rebounds at UMass (Dec. 3). Hinton poured in 34 points on 13-of-17 field goals, 4-of-5 3-pointers, and 4-of-4 free throws vs. BU (Nov. 22). Hinton dropped 27 points in the overtime win vs. Princeton (Jan. 17), notching a dunk that forced overtime, before scoring 26 points at Yale (Jan. 31). He totaled 26 points, five rebounds, and five assists at Furman (Dec. 6) and scored 22 points vs. UNH (Nov. 9). He tallied 22 points at Brown (Jan. 30), 20 points vs. Brown (Feb. 13), and 19 points and nine rebounds at Dartmouth (Feb. 7). Hinton netted 19 points vs. Cornell (Jan. 24) and 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting at Columbia (Jan. 10). Hinton notched 16 points and seven boards against both Holy Cross (Dec. 20) and Dartmouth (Jan. 5) and contributed 16 points at Cornell (Feb. 21) and at Army (Nov. 15). - Senior guard Chandler Piggé has posted 12.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.7 steals per game on the year. In conference play, he has notched 11.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He ranks third in the Ivy League in steals per game (1.7), fourth in minutes per game (32.9), sixth in assists per game (3.2), seventh in field goals (124), and 12th in points per game (12.9). He has scored in double figures in 18 games on the year and netted over 20 points three times. Piggé – an Honorable Mention All-Ivy selection and CSC Academic All-District honoree last season – notched 13.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game in 2024-25. He has steadily increased his production over his career, averaging 1.9 points per game in 2022-23, 8.1 points per game in 2023-24, and 13.1 points per game in 2024-25.
- Piggé totaled 23 points and six assists, while shooting 8-of-11 from the floor vs. UNH (Nov. 9). He recorded his first double-double of the season on 21 points and 11 rebounds in the overtime win vs. Princeton (Jan. 17). He dropped 21 points with a career-high nine assists at Penn State (Nov. 19) and netted 18 points at Colgate (Dec. 28). Piggé posted 16 points and seven rebounds vs. Holy Cross (Dec. 20) and notched 16 points at Brown (Jan. 30). He scored 18 points with eight rebounds vs. Holy Cross (Dec. 20), hitting 4-of-5 3-pointers. Barbour hit for 18 points on 7-of-10 field goals and 4-of-6 treys at Colgate (Dec. 28). He notched 18 points vs. Cornell (Jan. 24), 18 points at Dartmouth (Feb. 7), 17 points vs. Penn (Jan. 19), and 17 points vs. Brown (Feb. 13). He posted 15 points and nine rebounds at BC (Nov. 26) after scoring 15 points vs. BU (Nov. 22). In conference play, he has registered 13.6 points and a team-high 6.5 rebounds per game. He ranks second in the Ivy League in 3-point percentage (46.7), third in blocks per game (1.4), seventh in minutes per game (32.5), 10th in field goals (110), and 15th in points per game (12.2). In Ivy only play, he stands first in blocks per game (2.0), first in minutes per game (35.9), fifth in rebounds per game (6.5), sixth in 3-point percentage (42.1), seventh in 3-pointers (24), ninth in field goals (53), ninth in assists per game (3.1), and 12th in points per game (13.6). He has scored in double figures 17 times and netted 20 or more points three times on the year. In 2024-25, Batties II averaged 11.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game on the year after registering 6.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game on the 2023-24 season.
- Batties II poured in a season-high 24 points, five rebounds, and four assists at Columbia (Jan. 10). He recorded a game-high 23 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks vs. Yale (Feb. 14). He dropped 22 points, seven rebounds, and three steals at Colgate (Dec. 28). Batties II compiled 18 points and nine boards vs. Princeton (Jan. 17) and went for 17 points and six boards vs. Penn (Jan. 19). He tallied 17 points, a career-high five made 3-pointers, and a career-high six assists at Penn State (Nov. 19). He scored a game-high 17 points against both MIT (Nov. 7) and Army (Nov. 15). Batties II posted 14 points and a career-high six assists vs. BU (Nov. 22) and netted 14 points vs. Cornell (Jan. 24) and at Dartmouth (Feb. 7). He notched 13 points at BC (Nov. 26) and at UMass (Dec. 3). He totaled 12 points and nine rebounds vs. Bryant (Nov. 29).
- Sophomore guard Ben Eisendrath has notched 4.8 points, 3.0 assists, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game on the year, while shooting 88.6 percent on free throws. In conference play, he has posted 5.0 points, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 95.0 percent at the free throw line. Eisendrath ranks fourth in the Ivy League in steals per game (1.7) and eighth in assists per game (3.0). In Ivy only play, he stands second in steals per game (1.9) and 11th in assists per game (3.0). He scored a career-high 15 points on 6-of-7 field goals at Penn State (Nov. 19), and tallied 13 points, five assists, and five steals at Columbia (Jan. 10). Eisendrath netted 13 points on 4-of-6 field goals and 5-of-5 free throws vs. Yale (Feb. 14). He compiled 11 points and six assists vs. Cornell (Jan. 24) and netted 10 points at Furman (Dec. 6). Eisendrath distributed a career-high nine assists vs. BU (Nov. 22).
- Sophomore guard Austin Hunt has tallied 7.2 points and 3.7 rebounds per game on the year, while shooting 49.3 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from 3-point range. Hunt scored a career-high 19 points on 8-of-9 field goals and 3-of-4 3-pointers vs. Holy Cross (Dec. 20). He netted 16 points and hit 4-of-7 treys vs. Dartmouth (Jan. 5). Hunt notched 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists vs. UNH (Nov. 9) and netted 10 points at Furman (Dec. 6). Hunt averaged 7.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in 2024-25.
