Track & Field Shines at Three Meets on Friday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard track & field continued its impressive 2026 season with consistently strong results at the Sean Collier Invitational, the Tom Jones Memorial and the Wake Forest Invitational.

SEAN COLLIER INVITATIONAL HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS

  • Harvard started the distance night at the Sean Collier Invitational with two entries in the women's 1500m. Sophomore Katelyn Matarese finished in sixth place with a time of 4:35.22, while first-year Ella Cohen took eighth place after running a 4:38.84.
  • First-year Caitlyn Chang finished in 15th place in the women's 5000m with a time of 18:48.83.

TOM JONES MEMORIAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • In the throwing circle, junior and team captain Alice Mihas took 11th place in the women's hammer throw with an attempt of 51.69m (169'7").
  • First-year Daniel Ye finished in eighth place after recording a throw of 57.65m (189'1") in the men's hammer throw.
  • An All-Ivy League Second Team selection in the men's pole vault last season, sophomore Philip Andreas Kubon made his second appearance this outdoor season in the Sunshine State, taking fifth place after clearing 4.90m (16'.75").
  • Senior Michal Husek posted a personal-best 51.88 to finish in eighth place in the men's 400 hurdles open section, a time that ranks 10th all-time in school history. Junior Simon Weiser finished in 22nd place after running a 53.57.
  • The women's 400m hurdles open section saw sophomore Abigail Dennis continue to climb up the program's all-time top 10 list in the event, finishing in fourth place with a 58.31. That mark ranks seventh all-time in school history.
  • A pair of Crimson competed in the men's 200m open section. Sophomore Harlow Tong led the way after taking 12th place with a time of 21.20, while fellow classmate Liam Acevedo took 28th place after sprinting a 21.80.
  • Sophomore Ella Cooper took a spot in the top 15 of the women's 200m, finishing in 12th place with a time of 23.58, running a time under 24 seconds for the fourth time this outdoor season.
  • Taking sixth place in the men's high jump, first-year Joachim Johnson cleared 2.06m (6'9") to do so, while senior and team captain Daire Mahon finished in 16th place with a height of 1.96m (6'5").
  • Junior Marta Amani, an All-America Second Team selection in the women's long jump last year, finished in 19th place at the Tom Jones Memorial with a leap of 5.66m (18'7").
  • The Ivy League champion in the men's 200m during the indoor season, junior Amari Turner ran a season-best 20.87 to finish in 17th place. Running in his home state, Turner now ranks fourth all-time in the outdoor 200m in school history.
  • First-year Oliver Parker finished in 31st in the men's 400 hurdles invite section after stopping the clock at 52.52.

WAKE FOREST INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • The final night in Wake Forest started with three entries in the open sections of the men's 1500m. In the first heat, first-year Andrew Thornton-Sherman finished in first place with a time of 3:52.93, while sophomore William Brunner took third place in that same heat with a 3:54.86. Junior Ethan Aidam ran a 3:56.27 to take sixth place. The third heat of the men's 1500m open saw first-year Arashi Hunter take third place with a time of 3:49.22.
  • First-year Tam Gavenas finished in third place in the third heat of the men's 1500m invite section, as the Andover, Massachusetts native's time of 3:41.77 ranks fifth all-time in school history. The first heat of the men's 1500m invite saw first-year Grant Schroder run a 3:50.46 to take 10th place.
  • A trio of Crimson competed in the women's 1500m invite. The 800m and mile Ivy League champion during the indoor season, junior Sophia Gorriaran finished in eighth place in the sixth heat with a time of 4:14.66. That time ranks third in program history. First-year Dylan McElhinney took second place in the third heat with a time of 4:17.42, a mark that ranks fifth all-time in school history, while junior Samira Kennedy finished in 11th with a time of 4:28.36 in the opening heat.
  • First-year Callie Wallace crossed the finish line in 4:35.00 to finish in eighth in the fourth heat of the women's 1500m open, as senior Lily O'Donoghue-McDonald took ninth in the fifth heat with a time of 4:36.08.
  • Junior Charlie Ortmans finished in fifth place in the third heat of the men's 500m invite section, crossing the finish line in 13:40.46. Fellow classmate Sam Burgess stopped the clock at 13:58.02 to take 15th place in the same heat.
