Track & Field to Compete at Penn Relays, Ken O’Brien Pre-Conference Meet

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard track & field closes out the month of April this weekend, as the Crimson will compete at the Penn Relays and the Ken O'Brien Pre-Conference Meet from Thursday, Apr. 23 to Saturday, Apr. 25.

WHAT TO KNOW

  • Two school records fell during the Crimson's last outing at the Tom Jones Memorial last weekend in Gainesville, Florida.
  • The men's 4x100m relay team of junior Timi Esan, senior Jonas Clarke, sophomore LeRoy Horton and junior Amari Turner combined for a time of 39.27 to set a new school record. The defending Ivy League champion in the event, Harvard now leads the Ivy League in the event and ranks 10th in the east region this season.
  • The 2025 Ivy League champion in the indoor women's pole vault, sophomore Ella McRitchie now owns the school record for the outdoor women's pole vault after clearing 4.40m (14'5.25"). A native of Bainbridge, Washington, McRitchie's height ranks sixth in the east region this season and second all-time in Ivy League history.
  • With the regular season winding down, Harvard is starting to turn its attention to the postseason, as the Crimson is well represented in the east region performance list.
  • The school record holder in the men's 100m, Esan's wind-aided time of 10.15 from the Texas Relays ranks 18th in the east region this season. A native of London, United Kingdom, Esan is looking to become the first back-to-back Ivy League champion in the men's 100m since 2017.
  • A five-time All-American in the women's 800m across indoor and outdoor competition, junior Sophia Gorriaran is currently 13th in the 800m in the east region with a time of 2:02.03 from last week's Wake Forest Invite. A native of Providence, Rhode Island, Gorriaran finished in eighth place in the 800m at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships.
  • Two Crimson rank in the top 25 in the men's 5000m. Junior Charlie Ortmans is currently 20th with a time of 13:40.46, while first-year Tam Gavenas is 25th after running a 13:41.43 at the Raleigh Relays.
  • A native of Arlington, Virginia, Ortmans is 16th in the 10,000m (28:29.37), while fellow classmate Sam Burgess is 29th in the 10,000m (28:55.37) as well.
  • Sophomore Abby Dennis currently ranks 22nd in the women's 400 hurdles with a time of 58.31 at the Tom Jones Memorial.
  • An All-America honorable mention in the women's 3000m steeplechase in 2025, senior Molly Malague is 14th in the event this season with a time of 10:07.55.
  • Sophomore Tyler Glover is 24th in the women's shot put this season after throwing 16.06m (52'8.25") at the Tom Jones Memorial, as junior Milina Wepiwé moved up to 11th in the women's discus after hitting 55.83 (183'2") at the Tom Jones Memorial.
