NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After a strong pitching
performance from Rachel Brown in
game one, the Harvard softball team plated 10 runs in the seventh
inning of game two to sweep Yale in an Ivy League doubleheader
Saturday afternoon. Harvard moves to .500 for the first time since
March 5 with a 20-20 overall record to go along with an 11-3
conference mark. Yale slips to 4-10 in conference action with the
pair of losses.
The Crimson and the Bulldogs will finish the series Tuesday,
April 27 after a two-day weather delay caused for Sunday's and
Monday's scheduled games.

Macadam got Harvard on the board in the third inning of game
one, stealing home to give the guests a 1-0 lead. Jessica Ferri's
two-run homer helped the Crimson plate four in the inning and
Harvard added single runs in the fifth and seventh to total six for
the game. Brown kept the Bulldog hitters at bay, allowing no runs
and just one base hit, a single in the bottom of the seventh, while
striking out 16 Bulldogs.
Macadam and Whitney Shaw
finished the game with two hits each while Ferri's two RBI was a
team-high in game one.
The hosts took a 1-0 lead in the third inning of game two and
added two more in the fourth thanks to a pair of RBI doubles. Down
3-0 with one out in the top of the seventh, Harvard erupted for 10
runs on seven hits to take a commanding 10-3 lead. Melissa
Schellberg, Shaw and Ferri all had RBI hits in the inning and
Macadam capped the inning with a bases-loaded double that plated
three runs for Harvard.
Six players on the Crimson roster logged an RBI in game two, led
by Macadam's three to go along with a 3 for 5 showing from the

finished the game with two hits and Ferri matched her game-one
performance with two runs batted in. Margaux Black earned the win
for the guests, pitching 3.2 innings of relief and allowing two
runs on five hits, while Julia Moore was
strong in her 2.1 innings of work to start the contest.
