The Particulars
The Harvard track and field team will send representatives to the ECAC and IC4A Championships this weekend in Princeton, N.J. Eighteen members of the track and field program, including 11 women and seven men, qualified for this year's meet.

Last Time Out
Both the men's and women's teams finished in seventh place, as the men's team accumulated 50 points and the women's team ended the meet with 33 points at the 2010 Heptagonal Championships in Princeton, N.J. Justin Grinstead successfully defended his title in the 400 meter hurdles, posting a time of 52.19, to earn All-Ivy League first-team status. Jessica Fronk placed second in the javelin with a mark of 42.94 meters to earn All-Ivy second-team accolades and Nicole Sliva joined her on the All-Ivy squad with a runner-up finish in the heptathlon, totaling 4,621 points.

Last Year's ECAC/IC4A Championships
The Crimson had a number of strong individual efforts at the 2009 ECAC and IC4A Championships, as the women finished 13th out of 59 teams and the men placed 23rd out of 52 teams. Nico Weiler fronted the men's efforts, capturing the title in the pole vault with a mark of 5.15 meters. With the win, Weiler became the first Crimson male athlete to earn an event win at IC4A's since Christopher Clever '01 in 2001. Eric Clayman took seventh in the hammer with a toss of 59.27 meters and Sean Gil finished ninth in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.80 meters.

Becky Christensen '09 cleared 1.81 meters in the high jump to take second place in the event and Brittan Smith '09 recorded another runner-up showing with a 6.02 meter mark in the long jump. Christensen claimed the high jump title at the 2008 ECAC Championships, becoming only the sixth Harvard woman to win an event at the meet. Claire Richardson ran a time of 4:25.82 in the 1,500 meter run for a fifth-place finish, and Jessica Fronk took seventh in the javelin with a distance of 44.32 meters.
