2010-11 season (Harvard Athletic Communications).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard cross country and
track and field coaching staff has been revamped heading into the
2010-11 season. Two new faces join the Crimson coaching roster
while other adjustments among the existing staff have been
made.
"I am ecstatic about the coaching restructuring we were
able to do this summer," said director of track and field/cross
country Jason Saretsky. "Not only did we add two outstanding new
coaches, but I feel we are better aligned to serve our current
student-athletes. I am confident these changes will result in
continued improvements for our program."
Bryan Fetzer joins the coaching staff as an assistant coach and
will oversee the horizontal jumps, sprints, hurdles and
heptathletes. Fetzer comes to Harvard after spending three seasons
at Mississippi State, serving as the jumps, sprints and hurdles
coach as well as the recruiting coordinator, meet director and
strength coach. He has also held coaching positions at California,
Ball State, Gardner-Webb and Ranger College, including a head
coaching position at Gardner-Webb.
Fetzer is a level-one USATF coaches education instructor and is
certified in level one and two for jumps. He has also coached on
the international level with the U.S. at the 2008 IAAF World Junior
Championships, with Jamaica at the 2002 NACAC U-23 Championships
and with Uganda at the 2001 World University Games. Fetzer has
coached more than 70 NCAA and NJCAA All-Americans, and received
USTCA NCAA Division II Southeast Head Coach of the Year honors in
2000.
Jack Brady '10 joins the Harvard coaching staff as a
coaching assistant after a celebrated career as a thrower for the
Crimson. Brady competed in the weight throw, shot put, discus and
hammer throw in his time with the Crimson, qualifying for the IC4A
Championships on a number of occasions. Brady earned All-Ivy League
honors in the shot put as a senior and placed third in the event at
the prestigious Penn Relays in his final season with the Crimson.
Brady will primarily be helping with the administration of the
track and field and cross country programs.
Cathrine Grace Erickson, an assistant coach for the Crimson for
the past three years, has been promoted to associate head coach of
the program and will continue to lead the Harvard throwing corps.
Matt Chisam, a four-year veteran on the Harvard staff, moves from
being a coaching assistant to an assistant coach and specializes in
coaching high hurdles, pole vault, high jump and decathletes. Amy
Gosztyla, in her third year with Harvard, takes over the role of
primary recruiting coordinator and coaches mid-distance and
