Becky Christensen matched her personal best at an outdoor
event in Cork, Ireland (David Silverman).

CORK, Ireland – Becky Christensen '09, a
former top competitor for the Harvard track and field team,
captured the high jump title at the 60th Cork City Sports track
meet this weekend at the Cork Institute of Technology Athletic
Stadium.
Christensen, representing the United States at the meet, posted
a clearance of 1.85 meters (6'0.75”) to match her
personal-best outdoor mark and edge out teammate Chealsea Taylor,
who cleared 1.80 meters (5'10.75”). The former Crimson
jumper made use of all her chances, clearing 1.75 meters on her
third attempt and 1.80 meters on her second try. Her clearance of
1.85 also came on her third and final attempt.
Up next for Christensen is the 2011 Meeting de Madrid which
takes place Saturday, July 9 in Madrid, Spain.
The Celina, Texas native was a six-time Ivy-League Champion and
four-time All-American in the high jump during her time at Harvard.
She has been competing at the international level since 2008,
recording a second-place finish at the 2008 North America, Central
American and Caribbean Under-23 Championships in Toluca, Mexico, in
her first international competition. Christensen set her personal
best mark of 1.91 meters at the 2009 indoor HYP meet during her
senior year in Cambridge.
