Records Fall at Harvard Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior Danielle Barbian bested her own school record in the 60 meter dash, posting a time of 7.52 at the Harvard Invitational, hosted by the Crimson at Gordon Indoor Track.

Barbian took the event title, while junior Ashley Collinsworth notched a new personal best to rank second all-time at Harvard in the event with a time of 7.58. Collinsworth finished third overall in a fast race. Freshman Sylvia Deppen finished sixth with a time of 7.95.

Finishing in a personal-best 8.58 in the preliminaries of the 60 meter hurdles, freshman Jackie Modesett now ranks fourth all-time in program history. Sophomore Autumne Franklin won the event finals with a ECAC-qualifying time of 8.56. Modesett took second overall, cossing in 8.64, while freshman Jade Miller (8.80), senior Olivia Abbate (8.89) and sophomore Madison Hansen (8.92) rounded out the top five.

The Harvard women also took first in the 200 meter dash, as Christi Schoot posted a mark of 24.95, a new personal best that moves her up to No. 7 all-time at Harvard.

Fresh off a strong showing a week ago, junior Erika Veidis took second, and first of collegiate athletes, with a time of 2:06.63 in the 800 meter run.

The squad of freshman Haley Baker, Christi Scott, Abbate and Hansen registered a first-place finish in the 4X440 relay with a time of 3:53.36.

Senior Adabelle Ekechukwu took first in the weight throw, posting a mark of 19.27m (63-02.75). Junior Taylor duPont ranked second overall in the event with a throw of 16.65m (54-07.50).

Rookie Nikki Okwelogu ranked first in the shot put (14.72m, 48-03.50) to complete a Harvard sweep of the throws. The freshman improved on her personal best to move up to fourth all-time at Harvard. 

In the jumps, freshman Raegan Nizdil posted a height of 1.70m (5-07.00) to earn first.  

On the men's side, senior Andrew Ezekoye and junior Jarvis Harris posted wins in their respective events. Ezekoye crossed the 60 meter dash finish line in an IC4A-qualifying time of 6.85. Harris posted a time of 8.12 to take home gold in the 60 meter hurdles.

Freshman Brandon Price finished the mile in 4:18.04 to rank second overall and first of collegiate athletes.

Senior Dustin Brode registered a throw of 18.62m (61-01.25) to finish first in the weight throw. Josh Whitener took second with a toss of 18.60m (61-00.25). Junior Ben Glauser completed a 1-2-3 finish for the Crimson with a mark of 17.20m (56-05.25).

Freshman Andrew Roney vaulted 4.57m (15-00.00) to sit first overall. 

Harvard will split next week, heading to the Collegiate Invitational at the Armory and the BU Valentine's Invitational.
