Box Score Despite two saves from Libby Manela, Harvard field hockey fell, 3-0, to Princeton on Saturday afternoon (Gil Talbot)
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In a matchup between the top two teams in the Ivy League, No. 14 Princeton edged No. 15 Harvard field hockey, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Berylson Field.
Junior goalkeeper Libby Manela made two saves in net, and Harvard owned an 8-7 edge in shots, but the Crimson could not solve Princeton goalkeeper Grace Baylis (four saves).
Harvard had good scoring chances in the first half, the first about 10 minutes into the game when Tessel Huibregtsen's shot from the left site was kicked away by Baylis.
A wild sequence to end the first half, started on one end by a defensive save from Olivia Allin, resulted in a penalty corner for Harvard after a great chance for Bente van Vlijmen, but the Crimson could not convert.
Early in the second half, Mimi Tarrant's shot from in close was blocked away at 48:12. Then the Tigers pulled away, as Emma Street scored on a rebound off a penalty corner at 53:50, then Julianna Tonetta added a goal at 63:45.
