Cousins is one of 36 students throughout the country to earn the honor (Gil Talbot).

CAMBRIDGE, U.K. – Excelling in the classroom, Harvard wrestling senior Henry Cousins has been honored as one of 36 students nationwide to receive a Gates Cambridge Scholarship at the University of Cambridge.

The scholarship, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, honors the "most outstanding and socially committed" U.S. scholars. The selected candidates show outstanding intellectual ability, leadership potential and a commitment to improving the lives of others.

"I have so much admiration for Henry Cousins," said Jay Weiss, The David G. Bunning '88 Head Coach for Harvard Wrestling. "He joined our team in search of a challenge in his life and I believe he has made the most of it.  He has impacted me and our program more than he will know during his time with Harvard Wrestling; he epitomizes the ideal of getting better every day.  The sky is the limit for Henry, and I am honored to be his coach and cannot wait to see the difference he makes in this world, and I'm thankful for the impact he has had on our program."

A molecular and cellular biology major, Cousins has showcased his tremendous work ethic for the wrestling program, competing at 157 and 165 pounds. Cousins won his first-career battle at the Jonathan Kaloust Open in an 8-6 decision.
