CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard men's ice hockey (9-6-1, 7-4-1 ECAC Hockey) will play Rensselaer (10-14-3, 5-7-0 ECAC Hockey) for the first time this season on Tuesday night (Jan. 25) in a game rescheduled from Jan. 7. The Engineers lost games to Yale (5-3) and Brown (3-2) last weekend at home, while Harvard split its home series against St. Lawrence (W, 4-1) and Clarkson (L, 4-3). Harvard and Rensselaer were supposed to meet in a 2020 ECAC Hockey Quarterfinal series in Troy, NY before the remainder of the season was canceled due to CoVID-19 pandemic.

What to Know
• Starting with the game against RPI, Harvard Athletics will welcome back spectators to all of its indoor events. Proof of vaccination for guests 12 and older will be required for entry and masks are required at all times for all spectators.
• Harvard's early season success can be attributed to a potent offensive attack (13th in NCAA, 3.44 goals per game) and a solid defensive corps (16th in NCAA, 2.38 goals allowed per game). Harvard has allowed more than 3 goals in a game just twice all season, while scoring 4 or more goals in a game on eight occasions this season (8-0-0).
• On Friday (Jan. 21) against St. Lawrence, sophomore forward
Alex Laferriere recorded his third mulitple-goal game of the season, scoring twice in a 4-1 win over the Saints. Laferriere leads the team with 10 goals on the year (8th NCAA, .62 goals per game). On Nov. 6 against Colgate,, recorded Harvard's first four-goal game since Ryan Donato '19 scored four on Feb. 10, 2017 against Union.

Nick Abruzzese is the nation's best point producer, averaging 1.50 points per game (1st in NCAA) with 21 points (5-16-21) in 14 games. Abruzzese has recorded a team best seven multiple-point efforts so far this season, most recently with three points (goal, two assists) in a Jan. 8 win over Union. A native of Slate Hill, NY, Abruzzese had a prolific first-year season for Harvard in 2019-20. He earned CCM/AHCA Hockey Second Team All-America honors. He led all NCAA first-years in scoring with 44 points and was named the ECAC Hockey and Ivy League Rookie of the Year, First Team All-ECAC Hockey and First Team All-Ivy.
• Senior forward Ture Linden leads Rensselaer (10-13-23) and is one of the nation's top centers in the faceoff circle. The Engineers have one of the top penalty killing units in the nation (89.8%, 5th NCAA). Graduate student goaltender Linden Marshall has made 22 starts in net (8-11-3, 2.59 GAA, .893 Save%).
At the Helm
Following success as a player, Harvard head coach Ted Donato has compiled a long list of accomplishments as head coach of the Crimson. The former Harvard captain has guided Harvard to four ECAC Hockey titles and three Ivy League championships, claimed six NCAA Tournament berths, coached 13 All-Americans and 18 National Hockey Leaguers. Donato, who won an NCAA Championship as a Harvard player in 1989 and enjoyed a 13-year NHL career, has represented Team USA at the World Junior Championships, multiple World Championships, and was the leading scorer of the 1992 Olympic Team in Albertville, France.
