Fencing’s Schneider to Speak at Athlete Mental Health and Wellbeing Symposium

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard fencing head coach Daria Schneider is set to be a featured speaker at the Athlete Mental Health and Wellbeing Symposium on Friday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m. ET. 
 
The symposium is being put on by The New School for Social Research with the Trauma and Global Mental Health Lab. 
 
Harvard alumna and member of the 2006 women's fencing national championship team, Chloe Sherill, is a moderator at the event during the Olympic athlete panel (11 a.m.) and will share in delivering the opening remarks. Sherill is currently pursuing her PhD in psychology.
 
Another Harvard alumna Louisa Thomas '04, will be the moderator of the research and athlete support panel (12 p.m.). 
 
The keynote speaker at the event will be Alexi Pappas an Olympic runner, actor and writer who graduated from Dartmouth College in 2012. 
 
Schneider, who is in her third season at Harvard, will be speaking during the research and athlete support panel to share her experiences and bring awareness to the mental health challenges that many athletes face.
