CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 6 Harvard men's fencing team (9-3) will play host to host New York University (8-6) for the second time this season on Friday, Jan. 28, at 6 p.m., at the Malkin Athletic Center.
The Crimson will be competing in their final dual match before the start of the Ivy League Championships on Feb. 12.
In the first meeting at the Sacred Heart Invitational, the Crimson earned a 15-12 victory over NYU. Junior sabre
Mitchell Saron won all three bouts and had a +10-touch differential during the win.
What to know
- Harvard trails the all-time series, 19-34-1, dating back to the first meeting in 1924.
- The Crimson have won four consecutive matchups with Violets since 2018, and have emerged victorious in 17 of the last 21 dating back to 2003.
- This is Harvard's first match at home since the Beanpot in November.
At the Helm
Daria Schneider is in her third year as head coach of the Harvard men's and women's fencing programs in 2021-22. In her first season as head coach, Schneider led the men's team to a program-record 20 dual wins and an outright Ivy League Championship. She led the women's team to the NCAA regionals where four fencers placed in the top 10.
