USAF ACADEMY, Col. – Harvard men's fencing greatly impressed in day one of the Air Force Western Invitational, their first action of the 2022-23 season.
 
On the day, the Crimson competed against five schools, going 4-1.
 
Harvard started with a dominate 23-4 win over the University of Incarnate Word. Sophomore Andrew Chung, sophomore James Liao, senior captain Kenji Bravo and senior Mitchell Saron each had three wins in the match, leading both foil and sabre to 9-0 wins.
 
The Crimson continued their winning ways in their next match against the University of North Carolina, winning 22-5. Foil and sabre went 8-1 in the match, leading the way for the Crimson yet again. Senior Filip Dolegiewicz picked up three wins against UNC.
 
Harvard cruised right past Stanford University 18-9 in their third match of the day. The Crimson's sabre team had another stellar performance, beating Stanford 7-2.
 
In their fourth match, the Crimson fell short, losing to Ohio State University 14-13 in a very tightly contested matchup.
 
For the last match of the day, Harvard returned to their winning ways, defeating the Unviersity of California San Diego 19-8. Men's foil had an extremely strong showing in this match, defeating the Tritons 8-1.
 

Harvard Highlights

• Harvard foil went a perfect 5-0 in their matchups on the day.
• Foil was led by senior captain Kenji Bravo who did not lose a single match on the day, going 13-0
• Senior Filip Dolegiewicz won nine out of his 10 bouts on the day in sabre
• First years Matthew Linsky (sabre) and Ark Ma (epee) both made their collegiate debuts.
