CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -Â Competing at home to open the 2022-23 indoor track and field season, the Harvard men's and women's track and field teams are set to host the HBCU and Ivy Challenge on Saturday, Dec. 3. This is the second year Harvard will host this contest while this year's opponents will include Howard, Delaware State and Dartmouth.
This meet will honor and recognize Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and be held at the Gordon Indoor Track. The meet will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the women's weight throw and pole vault and run until the conclusion of the men's 4x400 meter relay, slated to begin at 4:10 p.m.
The meet will be broadcast on ESPN+.
What To Know
- Harvard is coming off of a successful 2021-22 indoor track and field season, with the women's team being crowned 2022 Ivy League Champions and the mens' team finishing second in the Ivy League Championship meet. Head Coach Jason Saretsky was named Ivy Women's indoor coach of the year.
- Sophomore Izzy Goudros competed in the NCAA Indoor Championship Meet last year in the pentathlon.
- Senior Max Serrano-Wu and junior Lance Ward will lead the men's team as captains for the 2022-23 season. Ward was named to the First Team Indoor All-Ivy League in the 2021-22 season.
- Senior Cammy Garabian and junior Mackenzie Condon will lead the women's team as captains for the 2022-23 season.
- Harvard athletes last competed in the NCAA Cross Country Championship race, where junior Maia Ramsden and sophomore Graham Blanks earned First-Team All America honors while the men's team placed 16th in the nation.
