NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – Sophomore
Carlie Rose (fifth) and senior
Marcella Ruppert-Gomez (26
th) led a group of Harvard swimmers who competed at the CSCAA College Open Water National Championships on Sunday (Dec. 18) in Biscayne Bay, Florida, with the Crimson taking seventh overall in the team competition.
At the USA Diving Winter Nationals in Morgantown, West Virginia, junior
Elizabeth Miclau advanced to the finals of the senior women's platform, placing 14
th overall on Sunday night.
Last week, Ruppert-Gomez also competed at the Campeonato Nacional Interclubes (interclub national championship) in Colombia, winning the 1500m free, and placing second in the 400m and 800m free.
CSCAA COLLEGE OPEN WATER NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
At the CSCAA College Open Water National Championships, sophomore
Carlie Rose placed fifth in a field of 110 swimmers, finishing in 58:24.99 on the 5k course. Ruppert-Gomez was Harvard's next best finisher in 26
th (1:00:28.00). First-year Lizzie Brock (1:05:01.10), sophomore
Robin Cruz-Abrams (1:05:14.50), and
Molly Hamlin (1:06:35.65) also represented Harvard at the event.
The team event combined the top-3 finishers for each collegiate squad, which included Rose, Ruppert-Gomez and Brock's times to help Harvard to a seventh-place finish (3:03.55).
USA DIVING WINTER NATIONALS
In Morgantown at the USA Diving Winter Nationals, Miclau qualified for the senior women's platform final, taking 14
th place overall (386.45). Miclau who also competed in the three-meter spring board, was joined at the event by
Amy Wotovich, who competed in the one-meter springboard.
