Harvard Fencing Finishes Second at NCAA Championships with Just 11 Fencers, Dolegiewicz Crowned Men’s Sabre NCAA Champion

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Harvard fencing team had a historic performance at the 2022 NCAA Fencing Championships, finishing as the NCAA National Runner-Up, while only fencing 11 of a possible 12 throughout the weekend, capped with an individual national title for Filip Dolegiewicz in men's sabre.

In the team standings, the Crimson finished with 168 points and a +241-touch differential on the weekend, with 23 less bouts fenced than Columbia, Princeton, and Ohio State – who finished in places three through five respectively. The +241-touch differential for the Crimson was 51 more than Columbia, giving Harvard the tiebreaker for the second-place finish. Harvard stood 21 wins behind NCAA Champions Notre Dame.

Harvard recorded two individual NCAA national champions for the first time in program history behind Dolegiewcz in men's sabre and Elizabeth Tartakovsky in women's sabre on Friday.
