BOSTON, Mass. – The Harvard men's and women's cross-country teams competed at the Ivy League Championship meet on Saturday, where the women's team won the meet and the men's team took second.
Maia Ramsden was the women's individual champion and
Graham Blanks was the men's individual champion. This is the women's team's third championship in a row and Ramsden's second.
The Crimson women's team, ranked first in the Northeast and coming in as the defending champions, had an excellent day at Franklin Park, winning the championship 6k with 47 points. Ramsden led the way for Harvard, crossing the line first in 20:16.2.
Ella Gilson joined her in the top three with a third-place finish in 20:40.5.
Penelope Salmon earned All-Ivy honors as well with her 10th place finish in 21:12.7. Rounding out the five scoring positions for the Crimson were
Molly Malague (16th in 21:35.0) and
Kristin Otervik (17th in 21:39.5).
In the men's 8k race, Harvard fell just short of the title, finishing second for the fourth year in a row with 43 points, just three points behind Princeton's 40. The Crimson were led by Blanks, who scored another dominating victory in 23:47.4.
Ben Rosa was the second to cross the line for Harvard, finishing third in 23:57.8.
Acer Iverson battled a Cornell runner to take the fifth-place spot in 24:09.1. The final two scoring places for the Crimson were from
Sam Burgess (14th in 24:29.6 and
Shane Brosnan (20th in 24:45.7).
