Harvard Cross Country Teams Headed to NCAA Championship Meet

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard men's and women's Cross-Country teams have both qualified to race at the NCAA Championship meet on Saturday, Nov. 18. The meet will take place at the Panorama Farms Course in Charlottesville, Va., and will air on ESPNU.
 
The University of Virginia will be the host site for the 2023 championship race. The women's 6k will be the first race of the day with a 10:20 a.m. start time, followed by the men's 10k at 11:00 a.m. Tickets are available for the meet at NCAA.com and will be $20 a person.

What to Know

• The Crimson most recently raced at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship meet, where the men's team finished second for an auto-bid to the national championship and the women's team finished fourth. Graham Blanks was the men's Northeast Regional Champion and Maia Ramsden was the women's champion. Acer Iverson, Ben Rosa, Ferenc Kovacs, Shane Brosnan and Ella Gilson all earned NCAA All-Region honors for top-25 finishes as well.
• Thirty-one teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top two, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the nine regions, for a total of 18 teams. Thirteen additional teams were selected at-large. The Crimson men's team was an automatic qualifier and the women's team earned an at-large bid.
• The Harvard men's team is ranked 12th in the nation after finishing second in the Northeast region. The women's team ranks 29th in the after their fourth-place finish in the Northeast region. 
• Harvard raced many opponents who will be at the championship meet earlier this year at the Nuttycombe Invite, where the men's team placed sixth and the women's team placed 19th. Blanks pulled out a win against some of the nation's top competitors, putting himself in the conversation for potential NCAA Champions.
• In 2022, the men's team finished 17th at the NCAA Championship meet, led by Blanks' sixth place finish that earned First Team All-America honors.
• Ramsden raced at the NCAA Championship meet for the women's team in 2022, where she placed 11th and earned first-team All American honors as well. The entire women's team last competed in 2021, where they placed 25th and posted their best team finish since 1983.
