Princeton, N.J. - Two Harvard softball players earned Ivy League weekly honors after Harvard's opening weekend with
Allison Heffley winning Ivy League Player of the Week and
Anna Reed being named Ivy League Co-Pitcher of the week.
Heffley, the senior catcher from Lemoore, Calif. started the 2023 season strong, with hits in every game. She led the way offensively for the Crimson in two of the team's wins, going 3-for-3 against Fordham with a double and a walk and then going 2-for-4 against North Carolina Central with a double and an RBI. She finished the weekend against LIU going 3-for-4 in the ballgame with a double, a home run and two RBI.Â
Reed, the junior pitcher from San Luis Obispo, Calif. split the Pitcher of the Week award with Princeton's Alexis Laudenslager. In the season opener against Winthrop, she got the opening-game start, throwing 2.2 innings and striking out three hitters. In the Crimson's first win over Fordham, Reed picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Harvard. The right-hander went four shutout innings while giving up one hit, allowing no walks and striking out five. Against LIU, Reed was a bright spot, going four innings where she surrendered two runs, zero earned, on two hits, walking two and striking out one.
