CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard softball kicks-off its time at the 2024 Ivy League Softball Tournament on Wednesday, May 8, as the Crimson face Yale in Princeton, New Jersey. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. and Harvard fans can catch all the action live on ESPN+.
CRIMSON UPDATES:
- Harvard is looking for another title this weekend, as the Crimson enter this year's tournament as the defending Ivy League Tournament Champions. In 2023, Harvard defeated Princeton in the Garden State to secure the inaugural Ivy League Tournament title and earned a spot in the 2023 NCAA Softball Championships with the conference's automatic qualifier.
- The Crimson will face off against the hosts Princeton, Yale, and Dartmouth this weekend. Harvard finished the year with a 24-15 mark in regular season and is the No. 3 seed in the Ivy League Tournament.
- In its last series of the 2024 regular season, Harvard secured a share of the Ivy League Regular Season Championship with a pair of victories against Cornell on the road.
- After a game one defeat, Harvard bounced back with a statement 19-1 win against the Big Red, the most runs scored by Harvard in an Ivy League contest since 1994.
- In the regular season finale, the Crimson defeated Cornell, 4-2, as junior outfielder and team captain Savannah Fitzpatrick drove in all four runs to tie a single game career-high.
- At the plate, Harvard is one of the best offensive squads in the Ivy League, leading the conference with a .314 batting average and in runs scored with 208.
- The Crimson pitching staff is also dominant, as its 2.83 team earned run average leads the Ancient Eight.
- In just her first collegiate campaign, first-year infielder Sophie Sun has emerged as one of the best offensive talents in the nation. Among all first-years in the country, Sun's .833 slugging percentage ranks first and her .430 batting average sits in second.
- A native of Austin, Texas, Sun leads the Ivy League in batting average (.430), OPS (1.318), total bases (95), slugging percentage (.833), and is tied for the lead in hits (49), doubles (12), home runs (10), and is second in RBIs (37).
- Another first-year phenom, pitcher Nicolette Hunter's 2.09 ERA is the best mark in the Ivy League.
- Over its last 10 games, the Crimson excelled, ending the season with an 8-2 record in that span.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS:
- Yale enters the Ivy League tournament as the No. 2 seed, earning a share of the Ivy League Regular Season Championship after posting a 14-7 record in Ivy League play.
- The Bulldogs ended its regular season on the road, picking up two wins against Columbia.
- The two programs last met in March, as Yale earned a sweep against the Crimson.
- Harvard leads the all-time series against Yale, 81-27, as the two sides first met in 1981.

Harvard will face either Princeton or Dartmouth on Thursday, May 9 depending on the outcomes of the first games, as first pitch times will be determined at a later date.
