CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Three-time NCAA national champion
Maia Ramsden '24 is one of two Ivy League student-athletes nominated for the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year award. Founded in 1991, the NCAA Woman of the Year award recognizes and celebrates graduates that excel in their academics, athletics, community service and leadership efforts across all three NCAA divisions.
Ramsden joins Penn track & field student-athlete Isabelle Whitaker as the two nominees from the Ivy League. Last year, Harvard field hockey's
Ellie Shahbo was a finalist for the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year award.
One of the most decorated student-athletes in program history, Ramsden enjoyed a stellar year on the track and in the classroom during the 2023-24 academic year. During the 2023 cross country season, Ramsden earned All-America first team honors with a top-10 finish at the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Championships, as she took home NCAA national championships in the indoor mile and the outdoor 1500m during the track & field season.
Ramsden's season ended on a high note, as she traveled to France for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Running for New Zealand, Ramsden advanced to semifinals of the 1500m, breaking her own national record with a time of 4:02.20.
A Harvard graduate, Ramsden won the Elite 90 Award at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships, an honor awarded to the student-athlete with the highest-grade point average at the meet. Ramsden studied History & Literature during her time at Harvard.
Later this year, the national Top 30 honorees and nine finalists will be announced. The 2024 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced at the 2025 NCAA Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.
