Harvard Shines at Suffolk Relays

BOSTON, Mass. – Harvard track & field resumed the 2024-25 indoor season with a series of strong performances at the Suffolk Relays. The Crimson starred at the TRACK at new balance, securing six first-place finishes on Saturday afternoon.
 
HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Crimson's time at the Suffolk Relays began on the straightaway, as Harvard student-athletes competed in the women's 60m hurdles and the women's and men's 60m dash.
  • After winning their heats in the prelims, junior Fabiola Belibi and senior Izzy Goudros each took a spot in the top-three of the women's 60m hurdles. A native of Englewood, Colorado, Belibi finished in first place with a time of 8.59, while Goudors slotted in third place with a time of 8.66.
  • First-Year Ella Cooper was Harvard's lone representative in the women's 60m dash. Cooper finished in second place in the first individual event of her collegiate career, posting a time of 7.78 in the process.
  • The Crimson featured heavily in the men's 60m dash final, as three Harvard student-athletes advanced after strong showings in the prelims. Junior Jonas Clarke picked up the Crimson's second win of the day with a time of 6.87, as first-years Harlow Tong (third place/6.91) and Jordan Coleman (fifth place/7.00) also posted top-five performances.
  • The women's long jump saw the Crimson take the top-three spots in the event. Sophomore Marta Amani won the women's long jump at the Suffolk Relays on her very first attempt, leaping to a mark of 5.84m (19'2"). First-Years Saige Forbes (5.54m/18'2.25") and Corintia Griffith (5.35m/17'6.75") took second and third place, respectively.
  • The Crimson found additional success at the women's pole vault. Senior Anastasia Retsa won the event, clearing the bar at 4.30m (14'1.25"), just two centimeters off her school record of 4.32m (14'2"). First-Year Ella McRitchie also earned a spot on the podium, taking second place after clearing 3.90m (12'9.5").
  • Back on the track, first-year Hudson Allain earned the first win of his collegiate career, finishing atop the podium in the men's 400m with a time of 48.79.
  • Harvard first-years continued to make an impact on the track at the Suffolk relays, this time in the men's 500m. A native of Fairfield, California, first-year Brayden Chavez finished in eighth in the men's 500m with a time of 1:07.40.
  • After finishing in second in the women's 60m, Cooper headlined one of four Crimson top-10 performances in the women's 200m. A native of Owings Mills, Maryland, Cooper placed second with a time of 24.24 in the 200m, a time that ranks 10th in program history. Forbes finished in fifth with a time of 25.42, as Belibi placed right behind her teammate after crossing the finish line in 25.65. Griffith rounded the Crimson's showing in the 200m, placing 10th with a time of 25.91.
  • Allain picked up another win in the men's 200m, posting a time of 21.58, a result that ranks seventh all-time in Harvard history. Along with Allain's strong showing, Clarke finished in second (21.82), while Coleman placed in fourth (21.91).
  • In her second high jump appearance of the season, sophomore Lilly Hodge finished in sixth place with a mark of 1.58m (5'2.25").
  • The day concluded with a pair of Crimson starring in the men's high jump. A two-time All-American in the indoor and outdoor high jump, sophomore Tito Alofe won the event, clearing the bar at 2.20m (7'2.5") to take first place.
